You may have already noticed my latest embarrassment on the front page last week. I ran across an old photo of Christmas at The Kay so I posted it to The Reporter’s Facebook page to remind everyone it was coming up.
Somehow that photo, instead of the one I took standing in the exact same place, is what ended up on the front page. It is several years old.
Miss Judy York was the first one who noticed. Then Gloria Walker. Then Gary Griesbach.
After Judy told me I looked at the photo not believing her. There was my Dad in the exact same place as this year. But then I noticed the back of Mom’s head sitting on the opposite side of the aisle than where she sat this year. Then I noticed that Dad was wearing different clothes than the Christmas t-shirt he wore last year.
Lawd, save me from myself.
—kwc— I am getting excited about Christmas because the entire family is coming. There will be 16 of us at every meal so Mom, Noelia, Christine and I have been planning all the menus.
On Christmas Eve, Noelia is having a Mexican meal at her house after the candlelight service at church.
Then on Christmas morning Christine is making her famous-in-our-family breakfast tacos which we look forward to every year. After which we probably won’t be hungry until mid afternoon for our Christmas lunch.
We decided to forgo gifts this year and will just do stockings. Which reminds me I should probably get to shopping.
—kwc— I would like to welcome Brannon Industrial Group to Rockdale. They are our new trash collection company. Also called BIG company based in Brenham.
They have been replacing all the dumpsters around town and this week will replace the residential trash carts.
This company has been very generous about giving money to organizations and really want to be a part of our community.
So let’s give a big Rockdale welcome to BIG.
—kwc— I can’t remember a time when there weren’t Baileys in my life. Kathy and Wayne were in the same grade, Kevin was only one grade ahead of me and Michael and our Kevin were in the same grade. Shirley was my den mother in cub scouts.
It sure was nice to see them all together over the weekend, although I wish it had been under different circumstances than Shirley Bailey’s funeral.
Two of the Bailey children actually got up and spoke at their own mother’s funeral. That takes an amount of guts that I’m not sure I’d be equal to.
I’m glad Michael spoke after Kevin did because Kevin made me blubber and then Michael made everyone laugh.
And a special shout out to our friends at Phillips & Luckey because after all Shirley has been through during the past year she had such a peaceful smile on her face.
I love all of you Baileys!
