Madison Garcia-Tabor will the new pastor at St. John’s United Methodist Church on October 1.
Garcia-Tabor grew up in Longview and felt her first nudge toward ordained ministry in sixth grade during confirmation class.
She at t ende d Te xas A&M-Commerce and obtained a degree in history and political science. From there she attended seminary at Perkins School of Theology at SMU and served as a pastoral intern in a variety of churches.
Her first appointment was at First United Methodist Church in Lufkin where she was associate pastor for two years. She was reappointed to First United Methodist Church in Brenham.
Her husband, Danny, is a chemistry professor at Texas A&M. The couple was married on December 20, 2022. They will be moving to Rockdale with their beloved dog, Casey.
