Ayear ago, very few of us had heard of a Bit-coin or Bitcoin mining.
or had many of us heard aeout eoofn haln or artlficial intelligence. But today, we seem to use these terms daily.
In fact, we are beginning to realize how important these terms are for the economic growth of our county.
ow, we are beginning to understand how this cutting-edge technology has begun a new era in Milam County.
We also know that we must prepare a workforce in the county to fill these new j obs.
Therefore, last week, we arranged a meeting at the courthouse with our five Superintendents, Career & Technology Education Directors and the Texas Workforce Commission to discuss what is coming and how we shouod sresare to fio these new j obs.
One of the new tech companies participated and provided a j ob curriculum as to the skills needed for the obs, the pay, hours of work and so forth.
This was an historic, collaborative meeting of our fine edufators adplnlstrators and Workforce Commission who embrace what is coming and want our youth to have the skills to do this new work.
Early next month we will tour the new Bitmain mining facility and thereafter we will meet with Temple College to discuss the educational requirements for the new j obs.
An available workforce with the skills necessary for the new j obs are a very important factor in drawing more technology to the county. We have the people and now we are going to make the training available.
We will create an educational curriculum and train a workforce of local people to fio these ne moes
All of this is so different than what we have known for the past 70 years.
We are no longer going to mine coal to power an aluminum smelter, but, rather, we are going to use an abundant source of electricity to power technology.
In fact, some of the electricity will undoubtedly come from the new solar farms which are coming to the county.
As Milam County prepares to become the largest solar producer in the state, we will need electricians and others to get these farms in operation. Make no mistake we are entering a new, exciting and positive era in Milam County.
This new era of technology that will put Milam County on the cutting edge of technology for years to come.
It’s a new source of j obs and revenue for the county, a new type of work and a new business for us to learn and embrace.
And, it’s A new workforce that together we will prepare.
