Don’t forget the city pool is open 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday through October.

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department is holding its Third Annual Smoke & Stroke—golf tournament/steak cookoff—Saturday at the Rockdale Country Club.

There is also margarita and salsa competition. Tee off is at 8 a.m., turn in times are 3 p.m., margaritas; 3:30, salsa; 4, steak; and 5, cook’s choice.

KC’s Fall Fest is Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. at the KC Hall. They will serve fried chicken and sausage plates for $10, with a silent auction, quilt and seven-gift-card-prize fund raiser.

• Sept. 29—Milam County Area Go Texan Fundraiser.

• Oct. 5—First Friday Coffee at the library, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

• Oct. 6—Rockdale Fall Music Festival 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Oct. 10—Cameron Senior Expo.

• Oct. 13-20—Rockdale Fair and Rodeo.

• Oct. 18—Dr. Steven Gonzales will present a program on the El Camino Real de los Tejas, 6 p.m., city library.

• Oct. 19—Annual genealogy “lock-in,” programs scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. city library.

• Oct. 25—Paranormal researcher Greg Lawson book signing, city library.
