Ilove my friend Sheila Mireles because she always keeps the wine I like stocked at Brookshire’s. The other day she texted me and said, “Guess how many cases of your favorite wine we got in today?”
I made a few guesses, but I was wrong every time, so she finally told me it was 20 cases. Turns out they decided to make my favorite wine, Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, the holiday special. I even brought a whole case with me when I went to Galveston in October.
Last Monday, because of the Thanksgiving holiday, we had to have the entire paper finished and sent to have it printed at The Bryan Eagle, so it was a long, busy day. After work I was so thrown off by the time change that I thought it must be bedtime. It wasn’t even 8 p.m. so I decided to make a wine run.
When I got to the display there was only one bottle missing from the case Shelia had put out. Inside the empty space however were three cans of cheap brand cat food. Someone made a decision, and it was “screw those cats, I need a drank!” —kwc— We had such a nice Thanksgiving and I hope all of you did too. A couple of the kids we don’t see very often were there and we ate and ate and ate. The morning after, mom toasted a bunch of Noelia’s homemade rolls and everyone had jelly with theirs except me. I slathered mine with Noelia’s turkey gravy and was happy as a clam. —kwc— There are so many holiday events coming up that you don’t want to miss so I’ll list them here.
