If Thorndale basketball teams want a victory, they better call Thrall.

For the fourth straight season, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs swept their longtime rival after both Thorndale squads won Tuesday evening in Milam County.

First, the girls kicked off the night with a 63-29 victory in a game where Thorndale controlled the ball from the beginning.

Four Lady ‘Dawgs ended the night with double-digit scoring.

Kyndal Robinson led with 14, Savanna Taylor had 13, Abby Dickerson had a career high of 12 and Makayla Lafferty had 11.

The Thorndale girls basketball team hasn’t lost to Thrall since Jan 28, 2014, and has won 12 straight meetings with them.

Later in the evening, the Bulldogs took down Thrall 58-44.

The game was close in the beginning with the Tigers erasing a seven-point deficit late in the first to trail 12-10 to Thorndale at the close of the fi rst.

However, the Bulldogs never looked back, outscoring their rival 26-5 in the second quarter and holding a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game.

Sophomore Logan Davis was the leading scorer with 14. Kolby Neumeyer had 12 and Garret Bernstein ended the evening with 11. Chance Betak had eight.

The boys have won 14 consecutive matchups with Thrall with their last loss to them coming on Jan. 29, 2013.

LAST WEEK–A week before hosting Thrall, both THS varsity squads suffered their first district losses in Hearne on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Eagles 49-39. Taylor led with 11 and Lafferty had nine.

The Bulldogs also got their first loss of district play, 66-48. Going into the game, THS was the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ ninth-ranked team and Hearne went in as the fourth-ranked squad in Class 2A.

Neumeyer led with 19, while Bernstein had 10.

Kovar and Jagger Rubio each had five.

THIS WEEK–On Friday, both THS teams travel to Holland to face the Hornets.

Both Thorndale teams beat Holland at the THS Gymnasium on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The Bulldogs won 63-39 and the girls defeated the Lady Hornets 52-38.

Tip-off for the 7-1 Lady Bulldogs is scheduled at 6:15 p.m. The 6-1 Bulldogs will play after.
