I normally do not handle time changes very well be they either in the spring or the fall, but this year it seems like my body tried to automatically acclimate itself to it. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday I was in bed asleep by 8:30 p.m. so this one doesn’t seem so bad yet.
And that’s a good thing I guess because I had a busy weekend taking pictures of four different things that were happening around here: the new venue for the farmers market at The 1895, crepe myrtle trees being planted by Rockdale Earth Day at The Kay Theater, the Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser for Robert Whitmore and the dedication ceremony of the historical marker at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.
After my Saturday photos, Noelia and I went to the Apple store in the Domain in Austin because she was having an issue with her phone. We were both trying to remember how to get there by memory which is never a good thing at our ages.
Needless to say we got lost.
So since I was driving Noelia used her phone (with issues) to try to get us there. The first time she entered our destination it took us completely in the wrong direction which we finally realized after going a long way. The second time it took
The second time it took us to Jack in the Box. And, being 58, we both had to pee anyway so that was okay. We finally made it
We finally made it to the Apple store and I swear those Apple employees should just be posted on every street corner. They are so helpful. Noelia asked all kinds of questions so she would know what he was doing. I am much more sensible and just ask them to fix my phone problems and hand it back to me because I don’t have time for any of that nonsense.
It turns out that Noelia’s phone thought it was in Mexico instead of the good ol’ US of A. She found this out because there is a game she plays on her phone. Those games always want to make extra money so they charge you a dollar or so to get more “lives.” Her phone wanted to know if she wanted more lives for $75. She was incredulous, “Are you crazy? I’m not spending $75 on a stupid game!”
Turns out they wanted 75 pesos not 75 dollars because, again, the phone thought it was in Mexico.
Well the smart young Apple guy finally got her phone to come back home and all was well in the saga of Noelia’s phone. We didn’t want to get
We didn’t want to get lost again so we made it back to Mopac and drove down the road to more familiar territory.
We stopped to eat at Red Lobster in the La Frontera shopping center. Not the best seafood available but we were both starving because we’re 58.
Then we were tired and full and decided not to stop at Costco which tells you exactly how tired we were. We both needed a few things from HEB so we were in and out of there quickly and back on the road to Rockdale.
HEB was already playing Christmas which was another reason to make it a quick trip. It’s way to early for that claptrap. They got both the side eye and the Peggy Cooke Eyebrow from me.
Then on Sunday I had to go to Walmart because I can’t find any of my warm clothing anywhere. I remembered why though. When I packed up my house in Houston to come back to Rockdale it was summertime, so they are packed away in a box in my storage unit.
Walmart had warm ups on sale for $7 but they were also playing Christmas music. Can we please have Thanksgiving first and then Christmas? Bah Humbug!
