Times 1 WhereÎs the surging shale production/ the end (four years ago) of a crude oil export ban and improved fuel economy for vehicles.

We are also heading to more high tech contribution from wind and solar power—there are at least three solar farms planned for our area—but the plain truth is oil is going to remain the 800-pound gorilla in the room for years to come.

Experts are divided on whether this condition is permanent. The W a ll S treet Jo rn a l said the net export condition may be “short lived” but the Financial Times quotes one as saying “we are only expecting (American) exports to continue rising from here.”
