As you will see on the f ront page, Tamara Hebert Powell is again continuing her grandmother's 42 years of celebrating Black History Month with The Reporter.
I'm so happy that Tamara decided to continue her grandmother's legacy which she took over in 2021 after Suzy Sansom Piper's death. Happy Black History Month! —kwc— Speaking of Black History, I got a call from Mary Butler on Tuesday morning to let me know that her mother, Gertharine Green, passed away on Monday night at 106 years old. Rest in Peace Big Mama. What a lot of history she has seen. —kwc— I sure enjoyed the warm weather this past weekend. I know the rodent in Pennsylvania saw its shadow, but I'm going to enjoy these warm days as much as possible because I know there is another very cold front on the way.
My Saturday morning routine was kind of funny. I go outside to drink my tea every morning and I dress appropriately. For me anyway. I put on whatever shirt and undershirt I had on yesterday with a pair of warm up bottoms. Then a heavy hoodie with the hood on my head and tied under my chin. If it's really cold (it was early Saturday morning) over all of that I put on a down coat and then my warm bathrobe over all of it.
Do I look ridiculous? Yes indeed. But I am warm and that's the most important part. The weather warmed up pretty fast Saturday morning so every time I came back inside to get a refill, I had to lose one layer of clothes so I wouldn't sweat.
Sunday was also nice, and I even wore shorts for the first time in a long time.
Even if you love cold weather, you must admit it was awfully nice to have a sunny day after all the cloudy and cold days we've had, but then I'm already ready for spring. —kwc— CASA of Milam County is in dire need of volunteers because of the high number of cases from Child Protective Services.

He heard that Noah was building an ark to save all the animals.
He rolled up to Noah in his little apple and ran right into his ankle to get his attention. Noah said, 'What would you like friend?'
The worm replied 'I wanted a spot on your boat.'
Noah just nodded his head and said, 'Sorry little guy, we only take animals in pears, not apples.'
I heard a collective groan. You have Ashley Karl to thank for that.
