While we’re all still on a high from the July 4th fireworks show that Whinstone provided, it’s a good time to make note of the good deeds this company, under the leadership of Chad Harris, has done for our town.
When the pandemic first hit and we were on lockdown, Rockdale’s restaurants had to close for several weeks but were still open for take out. Whinstone wanted to help them out and did so by running ads in The Reporter with all the restaurant’s names and phone numbers for easy access in one place. And in doing so they also helped out The Reporter because our business, like most others, took a big hit due to the virus.
The list from 2020 includes donations for Wake Aquatics, the City of Rockdale, Rockdale Tiger Flight, Rockdale Rotary Club, Rockdale Independent School District, Rockdale Police Department, Rockdale Fair Association, Rockdale Downtown Association, Federation of Texas A&M University Mother’s Club, Rockdale Toy Drive and KRXT-FM.
This year’s list includes Rockdale Tiger Flight, Texas Hustle Baseball, Thorndale ISD After Prom, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, Rockdale Tiger Booster Club, Milano VFD, Rockdale Country Club, Brett’s Backyard BBQ, Kickball Tournament, Aftersock 2012, Rockdale ISD, Rockdale Animal Shelter - City of Rockdale, Milano ISD, Rockdale Fair Association, Milam County CPS Board, Rockdale Tiger Booster Club, VFW Ladies Auxilary, Milam County Aggie Moms, Milam County CPS Board, Milam County Jr. Livestock Show, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department and Texas Blaze National 08.
And while it wasn’t on the list they also donated lights for the softball field in Milano.
All of this charity work, except the lights, adds up to over $150,000 in donations to some very fine groups who are able to do more with donations like these.
They’ve also hired over 100 Rockdalians.
Hats off to Whinstone for becoming such a big part of our community in such a short time.
