FALLING FAR FROM THE TREE
Iam still on cloud nine about the Whistle Stop Wine Tour. I had so much fun and I’m so glad it was a success. I want to give a big shout out to the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce members for putting it on. What a great idea!
According to a few members I have spoken with, a lot of their goals were accomplished the very first year. I have also heard that the businesses with vineyard companies in their stores on the tour were also very happy.
The Wine Tour was also marketed to other cities and we did have visitors from several of them.
If you didn’t attend this year you missed a very fun event, so be sure to go next year. I know the next one will be even better and I can’t wait.
-kwc-This year for Thanksgiving my brother and his wife Christine got a “heritage” turkey from a farm called Amber Oaks Ranch in Thrall. The owners, John and Molly Pantalone, are regulars at our farmer’s market at Wolf Park.
From the time this batch of turkeys hatched, Ken and Christine were sent videos of the turkey flock running around in the grass.
My mom wasn’t sure she wanted to see the turkey she was about to eat in its live and natural state. She said she just hoped it was dead when it got to her house.
I thought it would taste more gamey since I’m probably so used to Butterball, but it was actually very good. Nice and juicy.
-kwc-I hope everyone who does Black Friday shopping remembered to pick up some toys ($25 value) for the Buddy Oney Toy Run, which is Saturday at The Ranch.
The Toy Run is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and you can take your gifts to the Ranch during those hours.
If you are riding, registration is $20 per rider or $25 with a passenger. Price includes a meal after the run donated by the good people at Brookshire Bros and cooked by the good people at Brady Pest Control.
T-shirts will be available on Saturday for $20.
All proceeds benefit Milam County Child Protective Services, Milam County Brown Santa Program, Thorndale Cares and The Rockdale Christmas Round Up.
Let’s give Milam County’s less fortunate children a very merry Christmas this year with lots of toys. See you at The Ranch on Saturday.
