Workers made wiener dog races successful

Dear editor,

Thanks to all those who made the wiener dog races successful Oct. 6 during the Fall Music Festival.

Masters of ceremonies were Dr. David Pendleton and Ward Roddam.

Dr. David Pendleton, Joan Ratliff, Pam Warren and Ron Rabinowitz were judges for the race.

The “boxes” that were used at the starting line were built by the Rock-dale FFA under the direction of Art Free.

Wiener Dog category was for Dachshund breed dogs and the Wanna Be Wiener Dog competition for either partial Dachshund or small dogs that were not more than 20 pounds

There were about 20 volunteers assisting with the race.

Thanks also to Jeff Whitely of Whitely’s Farm Supply for donating the hog panels used as fencing, Rev. Pam Graham for the blessing, Judy LeUnes of Wienerspiel of Bryan/ College Station, Steve Young, Melissa Garden-hire for registration, Lee “Sparky” Thomason for music and Linda Williams of All Texas Dachshund Rescue in Houston Texas.

In addition, we would like to give special thanks to Melissa Gardenhire, Donna Nichter, Leah Thomason, Bella Alexander, Leslie Schell, Faith Talley and Karli Marburger.

On behalf of the entire team I would like to personally thank Dana Pendleton for all her hard work, dedication and tenacity for making the Wiener Dog Race possible.
