Historical Society seeks quilts for May 4 exhibit
The Rockdale Historical Society will host a quilt exhibit May 4 at the I&GN Historical Depot and is now accepting quilts to display.

Cancer Society names
winners from cookoff
The American Cancer Society hosted a chili, stew and beans cookoff Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6525, drawing 11 teams.
Winners were listed as follows:
Chili—Bite the Bullet, Kathy Quinney and Koy Quinney; 2. Emmit Drehr; 3. Boyd Taylor.
Stew—Buddy Baggerly; 2. Boyd Taylor; 3. Dirt Road Cookers, Carl Huddleston, Liz Huddleston, Patty Lagravier.
Jackpot beans—Boyd Taylor.

Historical Commission sets Monday meeting
The Milam County Historical Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the Perry Community Building on Main Street in Rockdale.
Beth Brooks, spokesperson, said all interested persons are welcome to attend.
Crown Garden Club
meets at Overall home
The March meeting of the Crown Garden Club was at the home of Pat Overall with Renee Pounders and Joyce Skinner serving as co-hostesses for the luncheon and member plant exchange.
The April meeting will be a field trip to College Station for a tour of the Texas A&M gardens. The club has been asked to help with plant selection and planting locations for the Old City Cemetery flower beds for the Earth Day Celebration. A planning committee was appointed by club president Jimette Fatheree and will consist of Barbara Nelson, chairman, Roberta Pounders, Michele Fletcher and Mrs. Fatheree.
Door prizes were won by Patricia McKee, Diana Sousares, Geri Burnett, Betty Bartlett, Mrs. Pounders and Mrs. Fatheree.
Each member received a butterfly decoration for a pot plant from the hostesses.—Peggy Cooke, reporter
Ticket sales continue
for Terlingua diorama
CAMERON—Milam County Railroad Museum continues this week with the winner to receive a scale railroad diorama of the famous Terlingua ghost town in the Big Bend.
Donations may be made Monday through Friday at these Cameron locations: The Bling Box, Cameron Chamber of Commerce, Agrilife Extension Office and the Milam County Historical Museum.
Donation tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Drawing will be May 11 during National train Day activities.
The railroad museum is open 10 to 4 Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The museum and Rockdale’s I&GN Depot Museum have recently been added to the Texas Rail Trail and volunteers will participate in other model train shows throughout Texas.
Plans have also begun to host a junior engineer summer camp at the railroad museum this summer. More details will be announced.—Jamie Larson, spokesman.
