Milano Parents Club is hosting its “Back to School” dance on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Milano Elementary School cafeteria and it is just $5 for the whole family.
The group’s first general meeting of the new school years is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the elementary cafeteria.
ART PARTY—Milano Parents Club is hosting an “Art Party” on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Milano Elementary cafeteria. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the painting will start at 3 p.m. All registrations and payments are due by 3 p.m. Aug. 27 (this fundraiser is expected to fill up fast).
They will paint sports door hangers with choices of football, volleyball/basketball or cheer designs. The football and volleyball/basketball costs $45 and the cheer design is $40. To register, email misdpc@yahoo.com with your name, phone number, door hanger choice and payment method. If you are painting sports color other than Milano maroon and gold, please specify in email.

SOCCER LEAGUE—Gause Soccer League registration is now open for the 2019 season. Sign updates remaining are 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 22, Aug. 26 and Aug. 29 at Gause School Cafeteria. Cost is $40 per child for all ages, this includes jersey and socks. Registration is open to all students ages four through 13 (as of Sept. 1) in Gause, Cameron, Milano, Mumford, Hearne, Rockdale and Calvert school districts.
Three games will be played in Gause and the other three will be in Cameron. First game will be on Sept. 21 with the last game on Oct. 26. All games will be on Saturday mornings. Anyone interested in coaching a team or have questions, contact Lisa Koenig, 979-324-9851 or lkoenig@gauseisd.net.
4-H CLUB—Milano’s 4-H Club will hold its first meeting of its new year will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 at the MISD cafeteria.
AG BOOSTERS—The Milano/Gause Ag Booster Club has started their fall “Freezer Full of Meat” fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Prize includes 7 cu. ft. freezer, processed pig, turkey, and chicken, along with processing cost cuts. Drawing will be held Oct. 19 and winner need not be present to win. Winner chooses processing cuts and processing will be Nov. 25 at Westphalia Meat Market. Let me know if you need tickets.
SUNFLOWER FUN RUN— The Sunflower Fun Run/Walk benefiting the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund is set for Sept. 28 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The kids’ one-mile fun run is at 9 a.m. and the 5K Sunflower run will start at 9:30 a.m. Prices are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the Kids Run. Guaranteed T-shirt if registered by Sept. 1. Please wear bright colors the day of the race. Sunflowers, crazy socks and tutus are encouraged. Registration will also be available on race day from 8-8:45 a.m.
RUMMAGE SALE—The Milano Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary has started taking collections for its fall rummage sale. For more information, contact Thurla Hubert (512-455-3635), Lois Love (512-455-7915) or Travis Yoakum (512-657-2660).
