POLICE, FIRE CALLS, DPS
Rockdale police dispatched the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department just after midnight Friday to a report that a vehicle had struck two hogs and flipped over on FM 1712 just south of the US 77 intersection.
According to State Trooper Josh Hendricks, driver John Robinson Jr., 36, sustained injuries. No information on injuries, or transport, was available from the DPS.
Vehicle damage was termed “extensive.”
According to Rockdale Police dispatch, a second vehicle subsequently hit one of the previously struck hogs which was still in the runway.
ARREST—Police made one felony arrest during the past week.
Ashley Nikita Olguin, 33, of Rockdale, was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram) and no driver’s license. She was released on $5,000 bond.
CITATIONS—Police issued 42 citations during the past week.
They included 28 for speeding, four for expired registration, three for no liability insurance and one each for no driver’s license, failure to display driver’s license, violation of driver’s license restriction code, expired driver’s license and running a red light.
One citation was issued for violation of the city’s outdoor burning ordinance.
SERVICE CALLS—Offi - cers responded to 142 calls for service during the past seven days and there were 74 calls through the 911 emergency system.
FIRE CALLS—Fire calls for South Milam VFDs during the past week included:
• 1:31 p.m. Dec. 31, vehicle fire, 5700 block of FM 908 south, Rockdale VFD.
• 2:30 p.m. Dec. 31, out-of-control burn, 5400 block of FM 3242, Milano VFD.
• 9:54 p.m. Dec. 31, Milano VFD responded to fire call on CR 330 to find a small building had burned down.
• 8:39 p.m. Thursday, smoke detector alert, 2600 block of US 77 south, Rock-dale VFD.
• 1:47 p.m. Friday, Rock-dale VFD called out for smoke report north of town, unable to locate.
• 5 a.m. Sunday, Rockdale VFD called to police department in reference to burning odor.
• 12:05 p.m. Saturday, punctured gas line, 1500 block of Murray, Rockdale VFD.
• 5:39 p.m. Sunday, grass fire, FM 2095, Gause VFD dispatched.
