POLICE REPORT
A 43-year-old Rockdale man, charged with 13 counts of bond forfeiture on an original charge of keeping a junkyard at 1300-1328 East Cameron (US 79) was arrested Friday by the Milam County Sheriff’s Department.
Ira Richard “Richie” Thrasher Jr. was released on $6,500 bond Sunday.
It’s the latest in a long saga over the business, which has been designated a “junkyard” in Rockdale Municipal Court action.
Thrasher has also been indicted by a Milam County Grand Jury and, on April 22, Milam County Commissioners Court sent him a letter saying more charges would be faced if the property is not cleaned up in 30 days.
ACCIDENTS—Five traffic accidents were reported to police during the past seven days, including a two-vehicle collision at the Scarbrough-Davilla intersection on Friday. (See photo this page).
Police responded to the southern city limits on FM 908 at 9:16 p.m. May 7 for a report that a vehicle had gone through barricades and into a pasture.
Driver was listed as Alec Gideon of Caldwell. Vehicle damage was termed major.
Minor damages were reported at 5:04 p.m. May 8 in the 300 block of Meadow.
Police said a parked car registered to Kayla Johnson of Rockdale was struck by a vehicle which left the scene.
Minor damage was also reported at Chicken Express at 1:56 p.m. Thursday, police said, when a trash truck operated by Lerone Hill of Austin was in collision with a Jeep driven by Hunter Winkler of Thorndale.
A hit-and-run collision was reported at 6:25 p.m. Sunday at the Belton-Ackerman intersection.
Police said a car driven by Laura Lee Vencill of Round Rock was struck by a black Honda which left the scene.
CALLS—Officers answered 159 calls for service during the week, and there were 78 calls received through the 911 emergency-system.
