‘NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER’ OF TEXAS

—J. Griffis “Griff” Smith, who has been designated the “national photographer” by the Texas Legislature, presented a program before a crowd of about 50 Thursday evening in the city library. Smith (at right corner above and in photo below, gave his presentation seated because of an injury. The retired photo editor of Texas Highways magazine, he has spent 30 years photographing Texas and has traveled 250,000 miles within the state. In 2016, he compiled the best of those images for the book “On The Road With Texas Highways.”
