POLICE REPORT
Police believe natural causes led to the death of a man at Budget Inn during the past week.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich told The Reporter police responded to a call at the motel in connection with the death.
“He was in his 50s and did not live at the Budget Inn, but was visiting someone there,” Goodrich said. “He’s had some heart problems before.”
“We don’t think this was due to anything other than natural causes,” he said.
ARREST—Police cleared a case for earlier in the year with the arrest of a 20-year-old Rockdale man on Thursday.
Javonte Marquice Crawford was charged with credit card/debit card abuse, along with a Milam County warrant for motion to proceed on probation violation for an original charge of possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).
He remains in the Milam County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bond.
OFFENSES—That was the only felony arrest recorded over the past seven days.
Police investigated reports of theft, animal at large, and several motor vehicle offenses.
Rockdale police served eight local warrants during the week and one Milam County warrant.
ACCIDENT—Police and the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle-motorcycle accident at the Cameron (US 79)- Green intersection at 6:25 p.m. Feb. 6.
Vehicle driver was listed as Frank Williams of Rock-dale and the motorcycle operator as Jacob Scully of Cypress.
Damage was termed moderate to the car and major to the motorcycle.
CITATIONS—Police issued 39 citations, including 18 for speeding.
SERVICE CALLS—Officers answered 136 calls for service during the week and there were 82 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
