Rockdale police had their first encounter with a new type of illegal substance during the past week.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department said a 30-year-old Rockdale woman was arrested before dawn Monday and charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram).

“It was a substance with the street name ‘wax’,” Goodrich said. “It’s marijuana that has been compressed again and again until it really looks like ear wax.”

Miranda Leann Martin remained in custody at presstime Tuesday on $3,000 bond.

Other felony arrests during the past week:

• Steve Melendez Carrizales, 45 Rockdale, parole violation, in custody, no bond.

• Albert Kyle Epperson, 24, Rockdale, parole violation, deadly conduct, no bond on parole violation, $2,500 on deadly conduct.

• Anthony Michael Murley, 33, Rockdale, tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair, possession of marijuana (less than two ounces), released on $7,000 bond.

• Damion Dominique Duran, 27, Rockdale, possession of controlled substance (less than one gram) in drug-free zone, bond surrender-possession of controlled substance (less than one gram), in custody on $9,000 bond.

ACCIDENT—P o l i c e investigated one traffic accident within the city limits over the past seven days.

That came at 11:09 a.m. Friday on US 79 in front of Murphy Oil (Walmart).

Drivers were listed as Sergio Delaparra of Laredo and Lesley McDowell of Pflugerville.

Damages were listed as minor.

CITATIONS—Officers issued 22 citations during the past week, including 16 for speeding, two for public intoxication and one each for assault by contact/threat, driving while license invalid, no driver’s license and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

SERVICE CALLS—Officers responded to 213 calls for service during the past week and 86 calls were received through the 911 emergency system.
