Leave it to Internet scammers to give dishonesty a bad name.

The U. S. Dept. of Justice has had to issue a directive warning against scammers who are selling “Face Mask Exempt Cards” for $49.95 (500 cards).

One version of the card—which can be concocted on virtually any printer—bears what appears to be the Justice Department’s logo and includes a legitimate phone number where complaints about violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act may be submitted.

The cards, which state “wearing a face mask posses (an incorrect spelling of poses) a mental or physical risk to me,” cite the “Freedom to Breathe Agency” as the governing body behind the no-mask authorization.
