‘Suspicious’ fire for RVFD

Rockdale volunteer firefighters are terming a pre-dawn fire Monday in the 200 block of Fifth Street “suspicious.” The Rockdale VFD answered the call at 12:08 a.m. to find the unoccupied mobile home fully engulfed. Fire Chief Ward Roddam said there was no power to the residence. The structure was termed a total loss. An investigator was called to the scene. Roddam said two volunteers were looked over at the scene by an AMR ambulance crew for heat street issues. The Thorndale VFD had two calls during the week, one to a hay trailer and one to a controlled burn.
