The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by other agencies, made two high-water rescues at the same location within 10 hours Thursday, both to free trapped motorists who drove around “Road Closed” signs into Brushy Creek flood waters. Above, at 2:30 p.m., the RVFD, Thorndale VFD, Milam County Sheriff’s Department and Game Warden Derek Rennspies responded to this location at FM 908 to free a driver in the vehicle at left center in background. A drone owned and operated by area resident Jason Worley assisted in the rescue. At 12:02 a.m. the agencies were back, rescuing another driver at the location. On Dec. 27 the Rockdale VFD had made two high-water rescue calls to Rockdale homes.
