A 27-year-old Rockdale man is looking at a potential 10-year prison sentence after his public intoxication arrest last week.
Prosecutor Bill Torrey told The Reporter he has filed a motion to revoke the involuntary manslaughter probation of Robie Lee Lawhon.
Lawhon was indicted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the March 29, 2014, collision which took the lives of Wayne and Margie Brinkley.
Torrey said a hearing on Lawhon is set for April 25 in the 20th District Courtroom.
The charge includes probation revocation. If it is revoked Lawhon faces up to 10 years in prison, according to the prosecutor.
BAR VISIT—Lt. Goodrich said as a condition of Law-hon’s shock probation he was not allowed to be in a bar.
“He was at a Rockdale bar,” Goodrich said. “In addition to that infraction he was charged with public intoxication. Then, the probation violation was a result and that charge was added.”
FATAL CRASH—An extensive investigation by the Dept. of Public Safety concluded Lawhon’s westbound pickup struck a westbound pickup operated by Barbara Avery of Milano and pushed it into the path of the Brinkleys’ eastbound vehicle. The Brinkleys died and Barbara and Ian Avery were injured.
Torrey said the state maintained Lawhon was attempting to pass the Avery vehicle on the right.
PROBATION—Lawhon was indicted on March 19, 2015. On Aug. 31, 2016, Law-hon pleaded guilty and was sentenced a month later.
