A chase from Rockdale to eastern Milam County, at speeds at times estimated at 100 miles per hour, ended with the arrest of a 17-yearold Spring Branch resident on a variety of charges.
Capt. Steven Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department said on Saturday police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
“After it had departed a bag believed to contain marijuana was found at the scene and the officer believed it had been thrown from the vehicle,” Goodrich said.
Goodrich said police gave chase, the vehicle went east on US 79 at a high rate of speed.
“The chase went to the Gause area and the vehicle ended up on a rural road,” Goodrich said. “The Milam County Sheriff’s Department assisted us and boxed in the vehicle, allowing us to make an arrest,” he said.
Colton Grady Cunningham was charged with two counts of tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair, evading arrest/detention with vehicle and possession of marijuana (less than 2 ounces).
He was released from the Milam County Jail on $25,500 bond.
ACCIDENTS—A two-vehicle collision was reported at 5:15 p.m. Friday at the Travis-West Cameron (US 79) intersection.
Police said a pickup operated by Benjamin Jones of Caldwell was reportedly struck by a tan SUV which left the scene. Minor damage was reported.
That vehicle was not located, according to police.
Police said a two-vehicle collision was reported at 8:45 p.m. in the Julio’s Restaurant parking lot.
One vehicle was operated by Christopher Vest of Rockdale, while the other was a parked vehicle owned by Robert Crim of Alpine.
A one-vehicle accident was reported at 9:42 a.m. Saturday when a pickup operated by Brandon San Migel of Rockdale collided with a storm drain.
Police said an 18-wheeler driven by Freddy Marti of Seabrook collided with a guard rail at 1:19 p.m. Saturday on FM 908 at Pecan Street.
A two-vehicle accident was reported at 11:03 a.m. Sunday at the Main-Cameron (FM 908-US 79) intersection. Drivers were listed as Wanda Downey of Milano and Randy Knupple of Alice.
SEX ASSAULT— Goodrich said police are investigating a reported sex assault in which the alleged victim was three years old.
“The investigation is in its very early stages,” he said.
