With 119 roofing projects beginning since May, following a spring hailstorm, in the Rockdale city limits, building permits for the first two-thirds of the year now stand at $2,630,579. Permits are issued at City Hall and only reflect construction within the city limits. August permits totaled $309,327 and included 19 re-roofing permits. July saw 37 roofing permits issued and total permits were $715,787. There were 46 roofing permits issued in June. Total for that month was $507,929. Re-roofing permits in May reflected 17 starts and total permits issued were $$148,097. While $2.6-million-plus sounds like a lot, and it is, unless something unforeseen happens 2019 won’t challenge last year when building permits totaled $11,374,309.
