Alpha Tau Delta service sorority’s 19th Annual Dewberry Jam 5K Run/ Walk Saturday morning is going to be just as colorful as last year’s successful event. Again, participants start the race in a white T-shirt and will be plastered with different colors at stations throughout the course. The race starts at 9 a.m., preceded by a Kids 1K at 8:30 and registration begins at 7:50. Site is Veterans Memorial Park, corner of Mistletoe and Brazos by the city pool. 5K fee is $30, Kids 1 K fee is $15. There’s an entry blank on page 3C of this week’s Reporter. All money raised goes to Alpha Tau Delta projects to help support the Rockdale community. Last year’s run raised $5,300 for the service sorority and the 18-year total is $108,300. All entrants in the kids 1-K race will receive a medal. Age divisions are 5-and-under, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-12. Ages are as of April 7. Early packet pickup for all divisions is from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday or 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Hogan-Hall Building located next door to the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center at 1203 West Cameron (US 79). The 1K is an “around the block” loop circling Little River Rockdale Hospital. 5K runners negotiate a course through the streets of western Rock-dale and arrive back at the park a good deal more colorful.
