Grad events ahead in Milano

Graduation week in Milano has arrived. The Milano eighth grade graduation was held Wednesday, May 27 at the junior high gym. Top students were Stonie Guthrie, valedictorian, and salutatorian Hayleigh Lagrone.

Milano High School's Class of 2009 will hold graduation ceremonies at 8 p.m. Friday, May 29 at Pruitt Field. The class is led by valedictorian Shawn Pustejovsky and salutatorian Taylor Whitmire.

MHS's One-Act Play will compete at the state UIL meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Hogg Auditorium on the UT-Austin campus. Break a leg.

A big "thank you" to everyone that helped the 2009 Milano Spring Sweep such a big success. Plans for the 2010 event have already begun.

The first Milano Opry Country Music Show on Saturday at the Civic Center had a full house to hear special guests Rockdale's Denise Dosss, Mason Roach of Conroe, Dennis Ivey of Crockett and Don George of Lockhart. The house band was fantastic too, full of Milam County talent. The next Opry will be held at a new venue and is set for Saturday, July 18 at the Milano High School cafetorium

First Baptist Church youth will hold an enchilada dinner starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 30 in the church fellowship hall. The dinner will beavailable for a donation and all proceeds will help send the youth to church camp this summer. Call 512-455- 6001 or 512-455-9724 for more information.
