Gause CIP to meet Monday

The Gause Community Improvement Program will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 1 in the Gause Community Center.

I stated in last week's column that the Gause ISD Awards Day would be held this Friday in the cafeteria. I was wrong on the place. The awards will be presented in the school gym. This will begin with the Pre-K and Kindergarten at 8 a.m., followed on the hour by the other elementary grades.

Wanda Coats, Lois Wilkins and Mildred Bowling were in Marlin last Thursday where they met Mildred's niece, Charlene, from Ennis. They had lunch and then took a tour of the city, seeing the beautiful homes and yards.

On Sunday, Wanda and Al Coats joined son Kevin Coats, granddaughter Lauren Ward and friend and son, and granddaughter Kristin Coats's boyfriend for Kristin's annual dance recital at Rudder Auditorium. Afterwards they all enjoyed dinner together.

Travis and Mary Nell Neely attended the Neely Family Reunion in Stoneman on Saturday. They enjoyed a barbecue lunch and visiting with about 50 of Travis's cousins and families at the home of one of the cousins.

It is time to send in your order for the 2010 Gause VFD calendars. There is a form at the back of your 2009 VFD calendars to send in with your money to make certain that you get the year's calendar.

A number of people from here were at the Milano High School cafeteria on Sunday evening for the graduating Class of 2009's baccalaureate service. Bro. Gary Westbrook delivered a very inspiring message for the graduates, as well as for us in the audience.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
