Watson

Graveside services for John A. "Jack" Watson Jr., 90, were held Wednesday, May 27, at Forest Grove Cemetery near Rockdale with Rev. Brandon Navarre offi- ciating.

Mr. Watson died Saturday, May 23, with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Oil City, Louisiana, to Mr. and Mrs. John Abner Watson Sr.

Upon graduation from Sam Houston High School in 1937, Mr. Watson enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II in the European Theater.

He started his career in the "oil patch" at Homco, a company his father helped establish. Mr. Watson had a successful career in oil and chemical sales until he retired in 1987 from Texas Brine Corp.

His retirement allowed him to spend half his time at his "Twin Wheel" Ranch in Tanglewood.

Mr. Watson also enjoyed golf and was active in several oil associations and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winifred; and two sisters, Winifred Grimm and Maxine Newsome.

Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Sue; a daughter, Patti LeClear; a son, Mike Watson and wife Cindy; and two grandsons, Joseph and Cody; as well as numerous family and friends.
