RISD on-line auction to conclude on Tuesday

The Rockdale ISD is presently in the midst of an on-line auction to sell mobile office and portable classroom buildings and will soon post other equipment and furniture.

Karl Kacir, assistant superintendent for business, says the district wants to be sure Rockdale area residents are aware of the auction.

"We'd prefer these items go to local people or groups if they have a need for it," Kacir said. "It was their tax dollars which helped buy the items."

To access the on-line auction, got to www.lemonsauctioneers. com or and click on "Rockdale ISD" in the list of auctions.

Final day to bid is Tuesday, June 9.

Fire probe 'months away' from conclusion

There's still been no decision from state authorities regarding a "suspicious" house fire May 3 and one may not be forthcoming for months.

That's the word from Fire Chief Warren Matous who said he continues to be in contact with state authorities on the probe.

"It's just the nature of these investigations that they take a long time," Matous said.

"They're drawn out and complicated, there are lots of interviews and contacts to be made," he added.

"It's fair to say we still consider the blaze a suspicious one," Matous said.

RHS staff now in RJH but number stays same

With renovation-expansion at Rockdale High School now in the "home stretch," the high school office staff has moved into the junior-high for the summer.

But the number to call the high school remains the same, 430-6140.

Pr incipa l Chad Jones and his staff are now located in the junior-high library, while the RJH remains in their office suite across the hall.

Administrators said the move was complete by Tuesday but there has already been some confusion over how the public gets in touch with the RHS staff.

The junior-high number, 430- 6100, serves only the junior-high office staff.
