Last week I had the wonderful experience of attending my granddaughter's kindergarten graduation.
Sitting there watching the young parents and the excited students made me think of when her daddy, my oldest son, was sitting in that same seat of graduating from kindergarten. It was good to know that some of the things he had learned some 30 years ago—such as celebrating 100 day, colors and letters—were still some of the subjects that kindergarteners learn today.
Margaret Green was his kindergarten teacher and she was so caring of the students.
I wasn't alone as the tears flowed freely, as I reflected on how precious our children and our grandchildren are. Standing in the ceremony and watching those around us cheering and smiling, trying to get their "graduate's" attention and the little ones beaming, so pleased that their family was there to support them.
It was their day and they were the center of attention. We all love to be in that position, to feel that we are the most special person in the world, at least to our family. What a difference our children make in our lives and what a responsibility we have to take care of them and support them in the best way we know how.
My son and his wife are two of the best parents I have seen and I am proud of them for that. And I am proud of the future citizens they are producing through my grandchildren. All of these milestones mean so much and make such good memories.
So congratulations to my special girl, Reef, who will be a first grader now and Gran and Papa could not be prouder.
We had a ribbon cutting for David Krause, who is selling a line of horse and dog feed and does aqua blasting of buildings, sidewalks, etc. Call David at 512-470-6429.
This week is Jubilee Days in Rockdale. The Rockdale Roping and Cutting Club decided to move the celebration back to June. We will have Lange Debault and Cody Davidson as our entertainment as well as rodeos each night. Also they have added a tractor pull and mutton bustin'.
You can buy your tickets at the Chamber and other locations around town. So get your boots on and come to Jubilee Days.
Also this Saturday is Quarterly Market Day with sponsors Antique Queens, Kountry Inn, Rockdale Flea Market, Rockdale Beauty Shop, and Thornton Enterprises at Ham Branch Park.
Get out and shop Rockdale. The Aycock Reunion is this weekend too, so get ready for a full weekend and lots of activity.
