Graveside services for Ruth Morgan, 84, of Rockdale were held Friday, May 29, 2009, in Milano Cemetery with Pastor Burt Graham officiating.

Mrs. Morgan died Wednesday, May 27, in Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

She was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, to Roscoe Hansel and Imma Gene Martin.

She married Tommie Thelston Morgan on Dec. 14, 1943, in Battle Creek, Michigan. They raised and trained race horses and loved to go to the races.

Mrs. Morgan lived most of her life in Milam County, including over 40 years in Rockdale.

She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Milano.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 6, 2002; a son, Tommie T. "Buddy" Morgan on March 16, 2009; her parents; and a sister, Dorthea White.

Sur v ivors are a daughter, Hannah Sue Pounders and husband Bennie of Rockdale; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Morgan of Grand Prairie; two grandsons, Tommie Lee Pounders and wife Susie of Rockdale, Tommie "Tee" Thelston Morgan and wife Amanda of Weatherford; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan Pounders, Garrett Pounders, Taylor Leigh Morgan, Jaclyn Reese Morgan and Cooper T. Morgan.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
