RETIRED TEACHERS—Milam County Retired Teachers Association held its monthly meeting Thursday at the Rockdale General Store meeting room and remembered two longtime friends of education during its annual memorial service. MRTA's Ted Hubert, right, remembered former Rockdale Elementary School Secretary Bonnie Scurlock and former Milano ISD Secretary Genie Vinton. Later the MRTA also recognized with certificates of appreciation its own secretary Carolyn Hafley, member Susan Larson, and Milam County news organizations, including The Rockdale Reporter, The Cameron Herald, KRXT Radio and KMIL Radio. The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
