Rockdale man facing charges named in Colorado warrants

Rockdale police made t wo felony arrests during the past week including one man wanted in Colorado for impersonating an officer.

Joshua Nathan Kaplan, 42, of Rockdale was arrested Monday by Ofc. Stephen Goodrich on a probation violation warrant from El Paso County, Colorado.

Police Chief Thomas Harris said original charges included motor vehicle theft and contempt of court. Kaplan remains in custody.

Renita Michelle Williams, 37, of Rockdale, was arrested Sunday by Ofc. Ethan Patton on Milam County warrants for probation violation. Original charges included possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Bond was denied.


Harris said a misdemeanor arrest was made after a teenaged girl reported she had been followed around Wal-Mart by a man who eventually threatened her.

"We filed an assault by threat charge," Harris said. "He never actually touched her but she was pretty shaken up by the whole thing."

Police investigated a retaliation incident involving juveniles.

Harris said police are also investigating the theft of several bicycles.

Other incidents investigated by police during the week included the reported burglary of a storage shed, public intoxication and two simple assaults described as "very minor" by Harris.


No serious injuries were reported in four accidents investigated by police during the past week.

Vehicles operated by Billy Solomon of Austin and Juanita Diaz of Rockdale were in collision at 4:10 p.m. June 10 in the Walmart parking lot. Damage estimates were not available from police.

Vehicles operated by David Lockett and James Gober, both of Rockdale, were in collision at 12:21 p.m. Friday on US 79 in front of Rockdale Monument. Damages were termed major to the Lockett car and damage estimates were unavailable for the Gober pickup.

Vehicles operated by Jose Garcia and Kenneth Johnson, both of Rockdale, were in collision at 4:43 p.m. Friday at the Belton entrance to Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park. Damage estimates were not available from police.


Police said 25 tickets for speeding were issued during the week, along with seven for no driver's license, six for no valid MVI sticker, three for running a stop sign, two each for driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility and no seat belt and one for failure to stop or yield at intersection.

Two curfew violation citations and one citation for animal at large were issued.


Police ser ved 10 warrants during the past week, six from the City of Rockdale and four from the Milam county Sheriff's Department.

Warrants included theft, hunting from a vehicle and several for traffic violations.


Police answered 119 calls over the past week, and 85 through the 911 system.
