CrimeStoppers tip leads to foot chase, federal warrant arrest

A Milam County CrimeStoppers tip and a foot chase led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Cameron man on a federal drug warrant Friday near Central Texas Hospital.

Marvin Charles Williams was wanted on federal probation violation warrant stemming from an original conviction for delivery/ manufacture of cocaine. He remains in custody.

Following the tip Cameron police said the fugitive suspect was observed riding as a passenger in a pickup truck on Crockett Street. A traffic stop was attempted and the passenger fled on foot, police said.

The arrest was made following a brief scuffle near the hospital entrance.

Autopsy ordered No ruling has yet been made after the body of a former Rockdale police sergeant was found Sunday north of Rockdale.

Clayton Evans, 40, was found about 7 p.m. at an FM 487 location, belonging to his mother and step-father near Sharp, according to investigators.

Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Twila Harris ordered an autopsy and said results will not be available for several weeks. See obituary, page 4C.
