Deputies check out burn ban calls

Milam County commissioners re-imposed a rural outdoor burning ban last week and the sheriff's department is already answering calls related to possible outside burning violations.

Deputies were called to Sierra Drive in the Praesel Addition on Thursday and FM 1444 in the Ben Arnold area on Saturday to investigate possible violations.

The department also was called to the site of a controlled burn Friday on FM 487.

Something new

The sheriff's department also answered several animal related calls including cattle, horses and goats but there was something new this week.

Deputies were summoned to buffalo at large calls Friday and Saturday on County road 334.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
