Svetlik

CAMERON—Funeral services for Gertie Lee Svetlik, 84, of Cameron were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Marek-Burns- Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Johnny Kueker officiating. Burial followed in Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.

Mrs. Svetlik died Saturday, June 27, in a Temple hospital.

A homemaker, she was born July 14, 1924, in Milam County to Ben and Berniece (Pressley) Kraatz.

She married Steve Svetlik on March 24, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1975.

Mrs. Svetlik worked at Svetlik Grocery Store in Buckholts and Hills Steak House.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Frank Svetlik; an infant son; and siblings Ben Kraatz, Thelma Woodley, Florence Roesler and Betty Lou White.

Survivors include a son, John Svetlik of Temple; five daughters, Mary Chudej and Opal Randall, both of Buckholts, Doris Glass of Cameron, Rosie Gusner of Troy, Gladys Schmidt of Rockdale; two brothers, Charles Kraatz of Apple Valley, California, Frank Kraatz of Irving; and six sisters, Florene Fikes and Lovene Wicker, both of Rockdale, Lucille McCrummen of Commerce, Doris Kerbow of Denison, Rose Taylor of Bridgeport, Mary Alice Scott of Houston; also, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
