Entry form deadline is July 17

The 30th edition of the Rockdale Open is scheduled for July 22-26 at the Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts.

The youth portion of the tournament will be held July 22-24 and features seven separate categories for players aged 10 thru 18, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Trophies will be presented to first and second place finishers in each event. Two matches are guaranteed for the youth division.

The adult section of the tournament is July 25-26 with an open division and a tournament division with five different sections.

Entry fee is $12 per person, per event and there is a limit of two events per person.

The deadline for entry forms is Friday, July 17. They are available at The Reporter or on line.

The first 50 youth and first 50 adults who register will receive a free Rockdale Open t-shirt.

Booster Club selling football program ads

The Rockdale Athletic Booster Club is currently selling business ads for the 2009 football program. The deadline for purchasing an ad is July 15. If your business has not been contacted and you would like to purchase an ad, please call Shelly Sanders at 512-446-3351.

The Booster Club is also selling parent ads for the 2009 program. These ads can be for football, cheerleaders, golden girls, volleyball, cross country, band or any student at RHS.

RYFL signup date scheduled July 18

The Rockdale Youth Football League will hold sign ups on Saturday July 18 at City Park from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participation fee is $80 ($55 for flag) with a $25 equipment deposit.

A copy of player's birth certificate and last report card is required and parents must sign a code of conduct with registration.

Scitern places 6th in Texas/Oklahoma golf

WICHITA FALLS—Caldwell's Carson Scitern captured 6th place in the Texas/Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament.

This is the second oldest junior golf tournament in the world with 600 of the top junior players coming from all over the United States and Mexico.

Scitern's scores included a 77 at Weeks Park Golf Course; a 73 at Wichita Falls Country Club; and a 72 at Wind Creek (SAFB) Golf Course.

Past tournament winners include PGA pros.
