Milano Opry names performers for July 18

MILANO—The monthly Milano Opry will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18 in the Milano High School Auditorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with concessions available, according to Lynn Martin, publicist.

The show will feature "The Tuckers," a family trio group from Lorena featuring 16-year-old Holly Tucker.

The club's other officers for the coming year are Cody Caldwell, vice-president; Denice Doss, secretary; Gaye Bland, treasurer; and Homer Mowdy, sergeant-at-arms. Also featured will be the Milano Opr y house band/singers from Milam and Burleson Counties. The show will aired live on KRXT.

The show performs the third Saturday of each month except October, Martin said.

Local Girl Scouts registering for '09-10

Lifesavers 2nd softball tourney set for July 18

Team Lifesavers, the Relay For Life team from Little River Healthcare System, will host its 2nd annual co-ed softball tournament on Saturday, July 18, ac cord ing to K im Jeter, publicist.

The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. at the Rockdale Girls Softball fields. The original date of April 18 was rained out.

Rockdale Rotary Club

Rockdale Rotary Club meets at noon each Tuesday at the New Salem Clubhouse at Fair Park. Noon Lions Club

Rockdale Noon Lions Club meets each first and third Wednesday at the Rockdale VFD fire station.

Historical Society

Rockdale Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. each second Tuesday at the I&GN Railroad depot museum downtown. All persons with an interest in local history are invited.

Milam County MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is enrolling members for the 2009- 2010 year. MOPS is open to any mother with children ages bir thkindergarten. Fees $25. Meetings will begin in September at First Baptist Church in Rockdale at 9:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month. Breakfast, guest speakers, crafts, fellowship. Childcare provided for 5 and under. VistaCare volunteers

VistaCare Hospice volunteers meet at 11:30 a.m. each third Thursday at Murray Street Church of Christ.
