Two arrested, one sought in rural burglary spree

Two Houston men have been jailed in Burleson County, and a warrant has been issued for a third, in connection with a series of rural burglaries which reached into Milam County last week.

Milam County Sheriff David Greene said his office had received reports of burglaries committed by persons in two vehicles and that law enforcement officials in both counties responded and arrests were made.

Charged with burglary of a building were Antonio Vega, 42 and Mario Alvarado Moreno, 27.

Bond was set at $20,000 on Vega and $70,000 on Moreno and both remained in jail on Tuesday.

Burleson County Investigator Bill Keel said the men were arrested in connection with a break-in at Friendship Baptist Church on Texas 36 just south of the Milam County line.

Greene said the two men were occupants of one of the vehicles and a search continues for another suspect.

"There are several other rural burglaries involved and we've had reports of some in Washington County we believe are connected," Greene said.
