"Celebrate Recovery," a Biblical, balanced and non-denominational program to help people overcome "their hurts, habits and hang-ups," is meeting weekly in Rockdale.

Meetings take place at 7 p.m. Tuesdays in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church in Rockdale. There is no cost and everyone is welcome.

Primera Iglesia sets youth rally Saturday

Live music from Fireproof and Three Days Lost will be featured during a Youth Rally Saturday, July 11 at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 665 Main Street in Rockdale.

The rally, also offering free food and drinks, will be held from 6 until 9 p.m.

VBS starts with kickoff at Friendship Baptist

Friendship Baptist Church, seven miles south of Milano on SH 36, will hold a kickoff and pre-registration for Vacation Bible School from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, according to pastor Delmar McCracken. There will be food, games and a water slide.

VBS at the church is set from 9 a.m. until noon Monday, July 13 to Friday, July, 17 for ages 5 through sixth grade. For more information contact McCracken at 979-567-0242.

Food ministry order deadline is Friday

Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry of The Master's Gateway Church in Milano is taking food orders for July.

Menus can be picked up at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, City Hall or White's Leather Shop in Milano. Call 446-9140 or 446-9130 and leave a message or e-mail loavesandfishes@the to request a menu and order form.

Order deadline is Friday, July 10. Food pick-up date is Saturday, July 25.

Food stamp orders can be placed in person at White's Leather Shop, 10 a.m. to noon weekdays (food stamp orders must be placed in person).

"This ministry does not require income qualification; everyone is welcome to order," said Rebecca Telg, publicist. "You receive $60 worth of food for $30, enough food to feed a family of 4 for one week. The menu includes meats, vegetables, pasta and more. Other optional boxes are available."

Meadowbrook VBS coming up July 20-24

"Boomerang Express" will be the theme for Vacation Bible School at Meadowbrook Baptist Church July 20-24 from 9 a.m. until noon. "Children age 3 through fifth grade are invited," said Katie Dillon.

"Come join us for a special and fun adventure that includes Bible stories, crafts, music, snacks at the G'day Cafe, and games at Recreation Rock," she said. For more information call 446-0554.

Women's Bible study ahead at Meadowbrook

Esther, by Beth Moore, will be the topic for a women's Bible study beginning Aug. 19-20 and continuing through Oct. 21-22, according to Suzanne Turner, spokesperson.

Groups will meet from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. Workbooks are $15.

Barbecue, desserts cookoff to aid church

Rising Star Baptist Church has scheduled a barbecue and desserts cookoff to benefit its building fund.

The cookoff will be held begin- ning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 18 on the church grounds, 1022 Texas Street in Rockdale.

Desserts—Entry fee is $5 per category for cakes, pies and cobblers. Turn-in time is noon.

Barbecue—Entry fee is $20 per category for chicken, ribs, brisket and beans. Turn-in times are: beans 1 p.m., chicken 2 p.m., ribs 3 p.m., brisket 4 p.m.

Entry fees must be paid before 9 a.m. on cookoff day. Alcohol is prohibited.

Aglow Lighthouse to meet on Thursday

Rockdale Aglow Community Lighthouse will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9 in the Rockdale General Store conference room.

Speaker will be Scott Windrum who founded his Windsong Ministries in 2002 after having been a pastor for two decades. He now travels as a "modern-day missionary throughout the U.S.," according to Betty Amerson, spokesperson.

An emphasis of his ministry is playing guitar while singing songs of the Lord to individuals, couples and congregations.

The public is invited. The General Store is located just west of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home on US 79.

Monthly men's breakfast Tuesday at Meadowbrook

An ecumenical Christian men's fellowship breakfast is held each second Tuesday, 7 to 8 a.m., the site rotating between several churches. All men of the Rockdale area are welcome. Next meeting will be July 14 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Women on Mission hold focus program

Women on Mission of First Baptist Church in Rockdale met July 1 for a missionary focus program entitled "Loving Outcast in the Juvenile Hall," led by Ramona Barlow.

Mary Lois Morgan read names of missionaries having birthdays and led in prayer for them and local residents in need.

There will be no Bible studies during the summer for this group. Mrs. Barlow led the closing prayer.—Myrtle Love
