Weat her man scheduled for July 23 forum
Do you wake up each morning listening to Bill Hecke whispering in your ear? His voice is unmistakable and now you can put a face to the voice.
Hecke will be in Rockdale for the next Rockdale City Forum on Thursday, July 23.
Mr. Hecke learned weather forecasting in the military the old-fashioned way, by reading the sky. The skills he learned continue to provide weather predictions more accurate than those provided by computer weather prediction software.
And he does have some interesting predictions for major changes in our weather, coming as early as the end of July to the first part of August. It may not be what you expect.
Hecke, meteorolog ist a nd KR XT 98.5 FM weatherman, will explain in simple terms the forces that create our weather. Come hear what he thinks about the "computer model" weather forecasts, and learn what real weather forecasting is all about.
Is global warming real or fiction? And what about cold fronts, warm fronts, highs and lows, and the real meaning behind El Nino and La Nina.
No fancy slide shows, just the real thing based on years of experience both in the military and locally around central Texas.
Join us for an enjoyable evening, and stay tuned to hear all about the weather, and what it has planned for us in the coming months.
Forums are held at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Patterson Center in Rockdale and last about an hour.
The forum is open to the public and is a free educational event provided by the City of Rockdale in partnership with the Milam County Master Naturalists. The subjects are always appropriate for children as well.
Speakers remain after their presentations to answer all of your questions. Light refreshments are served.
