Problems force Luminant to delay at least 59 days
Luminant's 581-megawatt Sandow 5 won't be on-line with the state's electrical grid by its long-time goal of Aug. 31. On Monday the power generating company filed a document before the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), stating it is seeking a 59-day extension of the Aug. 31 deadline. Full Story
5 indicted for rural vandalism
Five Rockdale residents, charged with 25 acts of vandalism in South Milam County during two nights in March, were indicted Thursday by a Milam County grand jury. Charged with two counts of felony criminal mischief ($1,500 to $20,000) were 19-year-old Allen Bayer and Jay Tanner Grayson and Francisco Diaz, both 20. Full Story

Jobless rate jumps to 10.8%
Milam one of 34 counties above 10% benchmark
Milam County's jobless rate rose again last month as the more temoprary workers completed their assignments at Luminant's Sandow 5 power plant. Milam's rate for June was 10.8 percent, up from 10.1 in May, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) reported. Full Story
