Thorndale Jamboree set for 7 p.m. Monday
THORNDALE—The Thorndale VFW post and Auxiliary will present its monthly Country & Gospel Music Jamboree on Monday, July 27 at the VFW Hall on FM 486 north.
Music with the house band begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30. The kitchen will serve sausage wraps, chicken salad sandwiches, chips, drinks and homemade desserts.
"Come enjoy the music, food and fellowship," said Marjorie Menzel, VFW Auxiliary president.
Milano Jamboree coming up Saturday
MILANO—The monthly Milano Country & Gospel Jamboree will be held Saturday, July 25 with all musicians welcome, Tena Galbreath, publicist, announced.
Admission is free and refreshments will be available, she said. For more information call 446- 5286.
Genealogy society to meet Tuesday
Next meeting of the Milam County Genealogical Society will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 in the Rockdale Citizens National Bank conference room, located at the rear of the bank.

Local Girl Scouts registering for '09-10

Sunshine quilters not meeting in July
Sunshine n' Shadows Quilt Guild w ill not meet in July because of vacation schedules. "We will meet in August," Eddie Davidson, publicist, said.

Historical Society
Rockdale Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. each second Tuesday at the I&GN Railroad depot museum downtown. All persons with an interest in local history are invited.
Milam County MOPS
Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is enrolling members for the 2009- 2010 year. MOPS is open to any mother with children ages bir thkindergarten. Fees $25. Meetings will begin in September at First Baptist Church in Rockdale at 9:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of the month. Breakfast, guest speakers, crafts, fellowship. Childcare provided for 5 and under.
