Suspicious vehicle call leads to drug arrest at mobile home park

Ofc. S.A. Smith was responding to a suspicious vehicle call at Sherwood Forest Mobile Home Park on Saturday when he landed an arrest of possession of a controlled substance.

Lt. J. D. Newlin said Lora Ann Brown, 46, of Rockdale was arrested on scene and charged with possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram.

Bond was set at $3,500 by associate municipal judge Terry Blanchard and Brown was transported to the county jail. She was released on bond the next day


Officer Smith also arrested 33-year-old Dana A nn Waddell, of Rockdale, after she was caught shoplifting at Walmart on Friday.

Waddell was charged w ith theft of property, $50 to $500, after she was caught trying to steal around $100 worth of merchandise from the retail store, Newlin said. As of Tuesday, she was still in the county jail on $1,000 bond.


Injuries were reported in the one traffic accident investigated by police during the past week.

Officers responded to Main St. and Cameron Ave. at 2:01 p.m. July 31. Vehicles driven by Rachel Garza, 35, of Rockdale, and Jason Koch, 27, of Granger were in collision. Garza's vehicle sustained moderate damages while damage estimates were not available from police for Koch's vehicle. James Tuttle, 29, of Round Rock, was a passenger in Koch's vehicle.


Police said 29 tickets for speeding were issued during the week, along with four for expired MVI sticker, four for no seat belt use and no liability insurance, three each for expired registration and running a stop sign, two each for running a red light, curfew violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

One citation each was issued for animal at large and no motorcycle endorsement.


Police answered 122 calls over the past week, and 101 through the 911 system.
