July was a scorcher for the ages

July weather forecasts became a month-long exercise in monotony— extremely hot, dry with few exceptions.

According to KR XT weather records, the month ended 23 days above 100 degrees and only 1.05 inches rainfall.

Most of Milam County is now under the "exceptional" drought phase, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture. 23 DAYS ABOVE 100
