Carter, Gattis to headline political rally

CA MERON— C ong ressma n John Carter will be in Cameron as the keynote speaker at an "Old Time Political Rally" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the historic Cameron City Park Pavilion on Hwy 36/77/190 located next to Stanley-Lynn Autoplex.

Rep. Carter will be joined by State Rep. Dan Gattis to speak to Milam County residents on recent national and state legislation.

The public is invited to attend. There will be complimentary hot dogs, lemonade and ice cream served beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program at 7.

Red, white and blue will decorate the newly-painted wooden pavilion and the Yoe High School band ensemble will play patriotic music. Although picnic tables are nearby, those attending should bring lawn chairs for seating.

Cameron Boy Scouts will present the colors and prayer will be offered by the Ministerial Alliance. Other guests will include city and county officials from Milam County.

"Rep. Carter will bring the latest information from Washington and Rep. Gattis will speak on issues from the recent legislative session," said Loretta Allen Roberts, president of Milam County Republican Women, the rally's sponsoring organization.

"The rally is free and open to the public and families with children are welcome and encouraged to come out for an all-American experience," she said. "There will be opportunities to visit with local, county, and state officials as well as Carter and Gattis," she said.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
