Fans drive helps 134, school supply drive 241
We have completed our school supply drive and our fan drive and we had such great response for both.
The volunteers were much appreciated and the organizations who helped included Rockdale Multi Service Center, Rockdale Rotary, Rockdale VFW Post 6525 and Ladies' Auxiliary, Walmart, the Chamber Ambassadors and a host of individuals. It was a great effort. Thanks so much to all who helped.
We had a Chamber Mixer for Comfort Inn last week and it was great to get in and see the improvements they made and the beautiful facility they provide to our community. If you weren't able to come to the mixer go by and see their hotel and tell Suresh and Nayna we sent you.
There were four doorprizes given away of overnight stays in their Jacuzzi room and their king suite. Congratulations to Carol Worley, Dorothy Mayer, Dr. Howell Wright and Tassie Pendleton for winning those great prizes.
I hope you have all noticed the banners we are putting up all over town to support our school. What better way to promote our town than to support our kids. This is a joint effort by Rockdale Athletic Booster Club, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale Signs and Photography, and the Rockdale Downtown Association and I am excited.
Rockdale Signs and Photography put all of the banners up for us and Rodney did a great job. The Booster Club will also sell spirit flags to businesses and individuals and if you want to order one you can call Susan Boyd at 760-0816. They will be appearing all over town for game days, contest days, and more. These are another great way to support our kids.
Keep it beautiful
The Chamber is beginning an effort of Keep Rockdale Beautiful under the umbrella of Keep Texas Beautiful. Becky Marek will be the Chairman of that effort and if you would be interested in working with that group please call the Chamber at 446-2030 to get on the committee.
I can see great things coming out of that from town cleanups to planting flowers around. Another great way to promote Rockdale so let's get busy.
Until next time I leave you with this: You may give gifts without caring—but you can't care without giving.
