Car wash stakeout nets drug arrest, recovery of cocaine

In what has become almost a weekly occurrence, Cameron police have made a major drug arrest and recovered a substantial amount of narcotics.

Detorious Deantre Anderson, 25, of Cameron, also known as "Dino," was arrested Aug. 12 after police targeted a car wash on the corner of Fourth and Jefferson.

Lt. Kris Stringer said the suspect was in possession of eight grams of crack cocaine rocks. Total amount of cocaine seized was 10.6 grams and would have netted about $1,060 in street sales, Stringer said.

Anderson was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (4 to 200 grams), capias or arrest warrant and bond surrender on previous charges of possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), abandon/endangerment of a child/criminal negligence.

Justice of the Peace Chip Dunsmoor denied bond on the new drug charge.

Sex assault charge

A 27-year-old Houston man, arrested Friday in Milam County on a burglary of a building charge, was found to be wanted in another county on a sexual assault of a child charge.

Mario Moreno is being held on $75,000 bond.
