Gospel Explosion 2009 set for Saturday

Dr. Beaumont Dr. Beaumont Rising Star Baptist Church will present Gospel Explosion 2009 at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Rockdale Junior-High School Commons.

Featured will be Rising Star's Workshop Choir, directed by Richard Hicks, Minister of Music at One Way Baptist Church in Round Rock.

A lso featured w ill be R ising Star Baptist Church Music Ministry with performances by the Sunset Praise Dancers, Male Chorus, Youth Choir and the Rising Star Combined Choir, under the direction of Jo Ann Bradford, Minister of Music.

Special Guest soloist will be Dr. Vanessa Beaumont, Mezzo Soprano from Round Rock, accompanied by Pastor Fred Warren, Little Ebenezer Bapt ist Church i n Hut to. Dr. Beaumont holds a doctorate in vocal perfor- mances from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied under Martha Deatherage. "Dr. Beaumont has won numerous competitions in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Her performances have taken her as far as Cochabamba, Bolivia, where she gave concerts and master classes" said Rising Star Pastor Royal Johnson. "Her voice is amazing and we are so fortunate to have her perform at our Gospel Explosion."

Dr. Beaumont currently resides in Round Rock, where she teaches voice lessons in all styles.

Tickets are $10 and are available at Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, from Rising Star church members, and will be sold at the door. Proceeds go to the church building fund, according to Pastor Johnson.
